    Pertinent Volkswagen News

OK, so yeah this is a Mustang site, but.. I know there are at least a few VW fans here who are in to this.

VW has released some photos of a 5-door version of the next Golf:

I hear the GTI will be a little shorter and sport some significantly different body parts. My favorite version, the Bora/Jetta will not be out for another year.

The best news is the suspension is slicker, the chassis is stiffer, and the next TDI engines will be even more powerful!

the E400 diesel goes 0-60 in under 7 seconds
mb is bring diesels back for model year 04, but i don't know if the 400 will be over here by then or if it'll be a 320 or what, can't remember now.

but if it's anything like the old 99 300 TD's... man those cars are quick when the turbo spools

I don't think I will ever buy another VW again after my 94 Jetta. What a slow POS. Good gas mileage but that is it.

when i worked at Toyota (not my finest days) we had a Jetta TDI (i think it was a jetta, little 4 door VW, not a hatch). was like a 00 or 01 model, and he had to send it to the local VW dearlership for service. So me and another lot guy had to drive there and pick it up (and we become very jelous of a VW lot guy, cause he arrived right after us in a 01 C5 Vette, no he wasnt parking it, he took it to go get Mcdonalds for break! i wish Toyota let us drive there nice cars to get dinner). But any ways, i got to drive the VW TDI back, and man, WAS IT SLOW! the Tubro Spooled about 2500 rpm and it did sound cool, but man, it was slow as hell. The other lot guy was giving me a serious beating at every stop light, in a Toyota Tundra! lol

So the new TDI are gonna be more powerful? they upping the HP to 90hp from 70? lol

For the record mine is 90bhp, 155lb-ft. Furthermore it is almost laughably easy to double the torque with simple modifications. There are very few engines in the WORLD with this kind of potential. Remember, you buy horsepower, but you drive torque.

If you doubt the abilities of the VW TDI see http://www.tdi-club.com/ . Some of the most excellent TDI engines include the V10 in the Toareg - 550lb-ft of tourque.

This probably doesn't mean much to you but in Europe the fastest GTI on the market is the TDI pump-duse version, using "only" 150bhp.

I was a lot guy for a while. If there was any money in it, i'd still be doing it. My bet is they didn't have permission to take the vette, they just did.

Hahahahaha. Well, not only that, we won't see these Golfs here for another year and a half, and the Jetta/Boras even further after that. Mark IV is your only option for now - but what a great option it is! I keep hearing people saying Civic but I don't see it. Besides I'd venture more towards Honda "borrowing" styling from VW. They certainly do that on interiors.

                    What color are you getting?

Maybe he had taken it for "one more detail".
