Yeah, something needs to be done, but didn't we all have this talk when gas hit $1.50, $2.00 and $2.50 per gallon, I say just bend over and take in the ass because we can't do anything about it and no one is going to help us.

Ideas people have proferred:
1) increase mideast oil production - will not help now as the price is being bid up on Fear Uncertainty & Doubt (FUD). Besides, US refining plants are at capacity already.
2) release 10% of the Strategic Petroleum Reserves - not enough oil to make a dent in the market. Also, see post #1. Also, why diminish our reserves for no effect on the market and reduce our ability to meet emergency demands. This is NOT an emergency, this is merely painful at the pump.
3) take over venezuela - nice thought, but this is not how we operate
4) drill in Alaska - good idea and should be done, but short-term impact will not be felt. Long-term benefits would be quite helpful

Remember, guys, that this is a "blip" in the cycle. This is like panic buying now. The National Petroleum Technology Office predicts gas in the $1.50 - $1.58 range within 2 years.

sit back guys. There is literally nothing we can do about it now. The market WILL correct. Weather, mideast uncertainty, speculation, lack of refining capacity and the individual state gas formulation requirements are all at work to reduce supplies to us here. As demand continues to grow, with a limited supply, prices rise. The definition of inflation is too many dollars chasing too few goods. Welcome to Gas inflation.

Instead of worrying about it, I have learned to just accept that I am going to take it in the ass for gas. Just think though, like 68GTO said, the price will come down. What goes up must come down.

I have zero faith that the price of gas will ever fall below 2$ again. I believe the prices will continue to go up as China drinks gets hungrier by the day. Almost all of Our gas comes from Venezuela and Canada. The Venezuelan president has made it clear he wants to cut us off. China is taking a larger share of oil from Canada then we are.
We get very little of Our oil from the middle east due to it being so politically unstable - yet China gets as much as they want.

The demand has gone up and will continue to go up. The price aint coming down
