    Fast Mark Dyno

OK, I need some input. I'm considering buying a dyno. I've got the cash and a buddy of mine has a nice location (Blaine off HY65) for the dyno.

    My Questions are:

    1) As a customer would you prefer a Dynojet roller dyno or a Dynapack hub dyno? The hub dyno is way more expensive but I thought I'd ask first!

    2) What would I need to get all your business? I've got a good background in tuning but I would not consider myself a professional. Would I have to hire a known professional or would good reasonable (low rate$$) dyno time be enough to draw in business?

    Let me know.

I would like to see a Dynojet Roller Dyno as that is what I like and seems more common. Good rates would be a key thing. Seems all the places around town are around $70 for 2 pulls and I would think that it could be done cheaper. You could do full Dyno days and really go cheaper cause the Dyno would be rented all day also, say something like $20 or $25 per person for 3 pulls no tuning what so ever even by the vehicle owner.

If you're going to buy one just stick in line with everybody elses pricing. A dyno is a good source of revenue for many businesses. Whoring it out does nothing to help the industry and will hurt you in the long run. THink about it...wouldn't it be better to make the dyno payment by having to make as few of pulls as necessary rather than say having to make 20 pulls? There are enough parts whores out there that will sell parts for chicken scraps, don't make the same mistake and have uber cheap dyno prices. If you have enough money to get one and only want little to no money for operating it, then get a hub dyno and put it in your garage.

Bottom line: if you are not cheaper than established shops you will not be getting much business. Also, who cares about helping 'the industry'?

Mark, I vote for the dynojet too just because that is what everyone compares to. They have a new load bearing one though, and I think if you are going to buy one, that would be the one to get. That's a dyno you can actually tune on, unlike the standard dynojet 248c. Then you have to decide on diablosport and sct, or even both.

                    1. Dynojet roller dyno (The industry standard IMO)
                    2. $25 a pull with wideband o2 (fair price with room for profit)
tunning would be a different price

I wouldn't worry about hiring a "known professional". Everyone who's known is usually known for some good and some bad (good tunes: 42, blown up cars: 4). At least if you're new, you haven't blown up any cars (cross your fingers). Plus let's face it, some of us might "know" someone, but we aren't necessarily a diverse cross section of the general public (you'll hopefully be reaching a much larger market than just TCStangs!).

As far as getting my business – just don't be shady! Other than that, don't try and push things on people that they don't need, and don't patronize people. Most car guys smarter than you think!

Why bother tuning with a dyno(Dynojet) that doesn't put enough of a load on the motor?
After tuning the motor with a Dynojet, you will have a motor that will run well on the dyno, not the street or strip.

If all you want to do is compare dyno hp numbers than you should buy a Dynojet. :idiot:
That way you can make the whores-power queens happy.

If you want an accurate tune than go with the hub dyno.

Good luck on this venture Mark! I agree with some of the other responses, that you do not have to have to be the cheapest in town, treat people fairly and honestly and they will give you their business. I will certainly give you my business and throw you all the referalls I can. Build it and they will come!
