    Investment Idea?

you know, im looking at something here in minnesota. We have crap for raceways especially for all the ride over in E st.paul near the cities.

Anyone else think that a 1/4 mile drag strip out by hwy65 and 610 would rake in the lewt?

I mean they cant be too expensive... 2 alsphalt strips 2 lines of jersey barriers and some aluminum benches...

What kind of laws stop these kinds of things from happening. I mean the way it seems to me, all these clowns out on the streets are doing this crap because there isnt a decent track in the metro area. I bet if you opened it to the public and even rented out helmets and let people go for 5-10$ a run and held something like saturday night open tournements you could rake in alot of cash...

I'd imagine the bleeding hearts would quash it though. I mean hell blaine has alot of extra room, we could even put up a 1-2 mile long nascar track!

Racing is catching on in minnesota like wild fire... No one ever cared what nascar was until maybe the last 10 years. i dunno I think minnesota is due for some serious racing renovation.

You ever hear of Minnesota Dragways? There are 2 possible strips close to the cities that are very likely gonna happen. You would need well over 100 Acres of land to be certified. Also no city near St. Paul or Minneapolis would allow something like this. Also all the stupid ricers that do this on the streets would still do it on the streets cause they would not want to pay to race.

If you could get more than 2 runs for your entry fee, I think all types of people would be down.
Make it 3 yards Mother F*cker and we'll have ourselves an automobile race.

street racing is something that you are never going to be able to get rid of. no matter how many tracks you build or how many laws you enforce.

I spend a lot of my day developing and subdividing farm land,. In a nut shell...I make good money and others on here do as well. BUT, if everyone pooled there money together we would still be short! Do you know what it takes to pave 2 lanes of ashpaltic concrete? Even it is is just 3/4 mi. the cost is austounding! The dirt work to grade it (just subgrade) would be near $600,000 then you need to buy and haul in 6" of classV compact it inspect it and sign off on it. Oh I could go on but you are looking at MILLIONS and, you, I and everyone on here would need HUGE $ backing. Even if you got a P.E. engineer to do the work as a favor his charge would still be $80+ an hour if not close to $200 if the PE didn't now you. It would take about 6-8 months of full time design and OH I forgot drafting. Drafters clock time is about $50 and hour. It would take 2 drafters and 1 PE 6-8 mo. of full time work. Do the math and just to make a set of drawings, you would have to sell your parents house (and yours./?). Hire a full time General Contractor, Inspector, TRY YOUR BEST to pass the MPCA (not comment on that!). Do a fieasibility study. A plethra of other paperwork. Now you get into the infrastructure part. Sewer Water Gas Electric. Building structures that will hold people. "A couple of steel Bleachers" that will hold HUMANS will have to be done by a Structural Engineer. OH, the cost of Steel has gone threw the roof as of lately!!! Crap the "cheap bleachers" would put it over $250,000. Now add in the addition of local law enforcement....No no no......

It is better left to "large pockets" as I call em'.

                *nutshell* huge big time money.

I also lived in Las Vegas for a while when I went to UNLV. At the Pontiac Strip the mayor Oscar Goodman ordered it to open to deal with all the illegal street racing that is WAY bigger there. It cost $15 to run your car all you wanted. Full tech inspection was done and it was all very controlled and SAFE. The burden was heavely paid by the city. $15 per car didn't even pay the money to turn on the lights. Now let alone all the safty officers that were needed. The cost goes on and on and on....

What do you think a chunk of land that would be required for such a place would go for? In a rural area near the cities maybe aobut 12-18k? multiply that by X acres. I think you now get the idea why there is not a close local track. Hell it would take an act of God to pass it by the MPCA!!!

You actually need at least 150 acres to get certified...might be as much as 180 IIRC.

7 figures isn't that much. The biggest issue is whether or not it would turn profit. Hell... "I" could find 7 figures myself for funding something like that if I could prove that it would turn profit. I just don't think it's worth the time, nor the risk.

More to the point... I just don't think there's any draw for an investor unless they really want to see something like that here in the first place for their own enjoyment.

Not true. MNDragways property is less than 150 acres. Its less than 130.

This thread just need to be put out of it missory. So many avenues of approach whith so little time. Look up getting a EAW and see how many hoops you need to jump through. And after the bank turns you down for that car loan. Just ask them for a 10,000,000 auto race track loan. I am sure they will gladly do that for you!
