    light rail - northeast 'burbs

did anyone know there was light rail coming through from st. paul to forest lake ??

    from Rushline.org :
The Rush Line Corridor is an 80-mile travel corridor between St. Paul and Hinckley. A Pre-Project Development Study is underway to analyze bus and rail transit alternatives between Forest Lake and Union Depot in St. Paul. The study builds upon previous work completed for the corridor and will identify one mode and one alignment for adoption as the corridor’s Locally Preferred Alternative. The PPD Study is a joint local and regional planning effort conducted by the Rush Line Corridor Task Force and led by the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority.

    so,
here's my question(S), I just bought a house on the bruce vento trail, nice house, nice bike trail ... but I go to file homestead, and guess what I find ... yep, light rail might be coming right up my ass.
they should have disclosed that right ?!?
    do I lawyer up ?!?

apparently, from the 'study' I read (which I'm certain is the 12 people getting paid to put in light rail, locked in a room, trying to decide if 'we' need it), they have already decided it's coming, just a question on whether it's going down WhiteBear, or the bike trail I back up to.

don't they actually have to get the $$ BEFORE they decide to put something like that in ... ???
where is the $$$ coming from ( I know ... my pocket...) ????

what do you all think ?

    oh, and one last !@##$%^
.. why is our lovely media not saying a peep about it ??

They should have disclosed something that might happen? Even if it was a done deal I don't see why they'd have to disclose that?

The light rail is a giant fail I will give you that.

Media's not gonna cover it until the southwest rail is done. That will limit the complaining about the financial black hole that is known as "light rail transportation".

It's in pre-project development? Worry about it in 20 years. Southwest and Northwest 'burbs will get LRT first.

Lawyer up if you feel like wasting money. They didn't have to disclose anything since nothing has actually happened, nothing is set, plans haven't been approved, etc.... Besides, at 80 miles long that isn't light rail, that's commuter rail and anything there will use existing tracks.

But think of all the deer it would hit
Dear Government, eventually the people with money will tell you to fuck off, and stop paying for those that don't work

You're right, due to overpopulation in urban and outlying areas, MN doesn't have to worry about deer getting hit.

I was looking at a piece of property in Newport, and the city told me not to purchase it since a projected light rail or rail line will be running right over that parcel. It was nice they were so honest.

Government has to pay more money to displace a profitable business than to buy a garage full of rusted out tow trucks.
