    Gas or battery leaf blower?

I'm looking for a new leaf blower to replace my high powered electric ones that I've had. They work great but work the layout of the yard I just don't ever use them because I don't want to drag out 200ft of extension cord. I've noticed some of the gas ones back in the day were gutless with the exception of the back pack style which is more then I want to spend.
Battery technology has come a long way and wondering if people have tried any and had good luck with them. Or is a gas powered the only option? What's more important mph rating or cfm? Hard to judge some when they say they spin 200mph but their cfm sucks.

Don't know which non backpack style you've used but the two I've had that were cheap kicked some serious ass for the price. I used to blow all the leafs into a pile and then bag vs raking the entire lawn. I'd hold off on a portable electric to be honest. Yes there are lipo powered ones but you'll be charging more than using if you intend on doing more than 20 minutes worth at a time.

Now I'm thinking of making some stupid brushless leaf blower with a 100ah lipo in a backpack
    god damned tinypic.

Gas - Battery powered blowers are still behind the curve in my opinion.

Gas for sure. Especially if you have a ton of leafs to move. I rented a stihl backpack blower to clean up pine needles, leaves and about 5 years worth of stuff. If I would have used a rake or elec leaf blower it would have taken me at least 5x longer.

Get a gas one, Northern usually has deals on a fairly cheap backpack style Husqvarna that does the job quite well. I think it was $200 or $250 with the $50 off coupons you always get in the mail from them. They also have a hand held one for $129 if your really a cheap ass!

I always felt my electric one was more powerful then any gas one. I'll look more into the gas powered ones.
I mulch and bag my leaves with the mower in the fall so I'd like to use the blower to clean out the rock beds, mulch, and clean the street off after I mow.

I agree on battery tech improving but I'm thinking gas is still needed due to the amount of HP needed when pushing large amounts of leaves. CFM is more important since you can change the MPH with a different size tube or end piece. The smaller units probably advertise MPH to make the units look better.
I like the ones with the metal impellers, especially if you have the vacuum/mulching option.

Edit: Didn't see you recent post.

Yes. Leafs. Kind of like leaves. But I changed it. To make a funny. It didn't work obviously. Back to the drering board.

And yeah actually it was over a ton. 138 bags. Some were heavy as fuck. Some were really light. To be safe I'm going to say the average was 20 pounds. 2760 pounds. All moved with that leaf blower.

Sounds like you should better maintain your yard. There is always one of "those types" On every street. You're that guy eh?

House was purchased from a buyer who didn't do the upkeep. Figured it was about 5 years overdue. Looks fucking badass now.

I was hoping to hear that answer. And if I did indeed hear it, which I did, I was going to reply "I'd be worried about a home where the owner didn't keep up the outside" and I did.
