You'd be amazed at the guys making a good living on scrapping. I talked to a guy one of the last runs we did at work. He picked up old computers for free from people. Paid some kid 7 an hour to desolder chips then sold the boards for basic copper scrap. Then sold the microchips for another basic scrap value. Then took the CPUs and had the gold chemically extracted and sold the chips after. Guy had it all figured out. And he looked like a complete bum. Don't judge a book by it's cover.god damned tinypic.

I have no doubt they can make good money. Heck it's even worth saving brake rotors in now. Anything with electric motors can have the copper unwound. Those guys can get creative and I was thinking about it the other day, they really are a value to our society and economy, its way better to recycle that stuff than just have it sitting wasting, helps control prices too. That industry won't ever get recognition though just because of how the people are viewed. But yeah they can really make a living and that's great.Originally posted by Akromix View PostYou'd be amazed at the guys making a good living on scrapping.
