Check out the new ATI Video Card

With 16 pixel pipelines and six vertex shader units, the X850 XT PE is an exact match in specifications to its predecessor, the X800 XT PE. All that's different is the slightly raised clock speed: 540/590 MHz versus 520/560 MHz. Externally, the differences are much clearer.

While ATI has long criticized the dual-slot cooling solutions that rival NVIDIA has used in its top models for some time, it has fitted its X850 XT PE with just this type of cooler. Without it, the huge level of heat that builds up in the 130-nm Low-K R480 chips cannot be sufficiently ventilated at these clock speeds. Heat from the graphics processor and memory module is transferred to copper cooling fins. A large fan directs the air through a transparent plastic housing and forces it out of the case through the slot panel.

The new Radeon X850 models (PCIe):

Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition (R480): 16 Pipes, 540 MHz Core, 1.18 GHz Memory, $549
    Radeon X850 XT (R480): 16 Pipes, 520 MHz Core, 1.08 GHz Memory, $499
    Radeon X850 Pro (R480): 12 Pipes, 520 MHz Core, 1.08 GHz Memory, $399

That's all good and all. But I'm not buying any ATi cards anymore. Fucking closed proprietary drivers.....
Dear Government, eventually the people with money will tell you to fuck off, and stop paying for those that don't work

Damn sweet card, but $500 for a video card!! Whats funny is that card doesn't cost them much more to make than others, but because some folks always have to have the latest and greatest they can rape people on the price for a while before dropping it down....

I like the cooling setup on it, just missed a 9800 Pro like that on ebay last night...

Gonna bid on another one coming up....

There are lots of alternative drivers for ATI. Some are even supported by ATI but the good ones that really perform are not.

Buy this one, seems to be a good deal, and it is new.

                    Nice card...but again...$500? Wow.

                    I'm running a 9600 Pro 256mb Radeon.

Really like it...something like $140 shipped last January from newegg.com.

Another year or so and I'll upgrade again.

My 9600 is running games just fine...for now.

That 9800 'Atlantis' car is only 350mhz mem. speed, the Pro is 780mhz. I should be able to hit a slightly used Pro on ebay for somewhere $160-180.... My second choice is a GeForce FX5900XT, they benchmark pretty close to the 9800 Pro. I'll find one or the other on ebay.
