Exactly four years on an oil change

So I changed my oil in May of 2010 on my then 28 year old honda big red. I put in Mobil one 4T racing oil. 1.5qts.

    Today I changed it.

1.5 qts came out. Didn't look that bad. Prob only had a couple hundred miles on that oil though. But still four years is a coons age.

Now it's 32 years old and still pops off like a charm. Amazing machine actually.

Couldn't find that racing oil so I tried another wet clutch safe oil. Quicksilver brand they carry at Walmart. It's full synthetic 5w-40. I think mercury makes it? They had a full line of lubricants.

So damn overbuilt it's truly a wonder. Looking at how much metal is on this compared to a new quad is hilarious. Those new 10k quads are plastic junk compared to this tank. Bet this wheeler is a lot tougher right now then a new quad.

              Moved it for you.

I too have an old honda four wheeler, an 86 250, I just use it occasionally around the property for stuff like planting trees or carrying tools. I probably haven't changed the oil in around 4 years either. When I check it, it looks pretty much new (light golden or whatever). I don't use it much, I use my Polaris 4x4 for Gilbert abuse and such. Should I change the oil periodically anyways even though it's not dirty? If so, how often?

Yeah four years is a little much. Oil degrades over time, actually thickening. Especially in extreme temp changes I.e. Midwest.
I didn't realize it's been that long. Then I realized I've only changed it once right when I bought it lol.

Pffft, back in the DSM days I had a 91 Grand Prix with a 3.1L that I used for 3 years in the winter and for road trips, never change the oil once until the transmission went out. Lost 1/2 quart in 3 years and god knows how many miles. That must be the secret to keeping the lower intake manifold gaskets sealed, never change the oil or coolant

Haven't changed it in my 84 Honda 200 3 wheeler, nor do I plan on checking it. It will never die.

I maintain stuff pretty well just as a hobby. I'm gonna clean this beast and take some amazing pics of it.
