Fence jumping dog

My dog is a fairly well trained 2 year old Carolina dog who is gets plenty of exercise. We haven't had any problems up until recently when the neighbors across the street got a dog. They don't have a fenced in yard so sometimes their dog wonders off. As soon as my dog sees theirs, she will jump the fence to go play. She wont jump the fence if I'm back there to correct her, however, I'm getting sick of babysitting.


I know tcs is a one stop shop full of experts about everything from ls swaps to legal advise. Any dog whisperers out there?

you could do underground fencing, should correct the problem real fast. or just a regular shock collar and shock her when she jumps it.

Yup, underground fencing will cure it in a few weeks. Especially if they are already collar trained. Dex will walk up to it , As soon as his collar starts to beep he will back off and just sit down and look at the neighbors dogs. Or he will run back and forth along the fence line. They dont like getting jolted. LOL

We've been letting them out one at a time instead of together and neither of them have gone, but it's fucking annoying. We looked into underground fencing, too damn much money. Our permanent solution? Haven't gotten one yet.

You can just do it yourself, it's not that hard and i don't remember it being that expensive. I'm assuming your normal city/shitty lot.

You'd have to catch her when she doesn't think you're there, and be there instantly. Probably going to be tough without a shock collar or something at this point because the reward is high and the other dog is roaming free. FWIW, you only have to use the shock a couple of times w/ a beeper and then usually just the beeper will be enough after that. Sometimes I think that pet stores should rent these because you'd only need it for a short while until your dog gets it down.

IMO, two yrs is a lot like a teenage kid and a time where you need to correct harder and more strict. It's tough for a dog to stand there while another walks by so I let them smell where the other dog was, especially if they are on the property. Dog are very territorial so if the other dog is on her lawn she needs to get there and mark it. If you allow her to do this she will probably cooperate more with you and be more relaxed.

Chaos behaves when he has his shock collar on cuz he's been zapped. Daisy doesn't care. You can zap her til her paws leave the ground and she'll continue on.
