    Smartphone question

It seems that I will need to finally cave and get a smartphone, due to needing it for work.

Just seeing if TCS has any recommendations for me. I'm looking for something on the AT&T network, I'll be using it to integrate with Office 365, mainly just email and calendar and skydrive, maybe occasionally RWW to a server 2012 box. I have a paid license with pda net/foxfi and would like to tether my tablet/laptop when I'm at the cabin. I'd be buying the phone outright, like off of ebay or something so I can stick with a no contract plan for now. I see I can get a new overstock S3 for around $300, but I'm not particularly enamoured with the S3. I don't think I need anything too fancy?

    Thanks for any recommendations.

I like the HTC phones on the android o.s. Use pdanet exclusively for my home internet. Samsung phones seem junky to me. Way to step up to the 21st century

I'm partial to HTC as well over Samsung, maybe get an old One X, it'd be the equivalent generation model as the S3

Apparently Samsung had a lot of issues with the Galaxy S3. They are going to be mailing users replacement phones sometime over the next few months...you could always wait for a replacement. I'm not really a fan of the new design...should improve calling reception by quite a bit, though:

I'm liking how that phone looks. Looks like a refurb only runs $150 too.

It's also nearly 2 years old. I'd wait a few months when the new shit comes out.

Go take a look at Windows phones. I thought they would be a huge piles of shit, but after messing around with one, it was pretty nice actually. Seemed like everything was within a few clicks.

There have been some threads on Slickdeals for unlocked phones. The deals for them have mostly been on Newegg, Ebay or Amazon.
Search under "unlocked phones" and maybe click on 3 or 5 thumbs to weed out the more popular deals.

This. Best bang for your buck if you're planning on buying the phone outright.

I've had one since the day it came out and have loved it. Substantially nicer (IMO) than the Nexus 4 that I had before it. Everything has worked, everything is unlocked, and it's easy to order without worrying about refurbs. I have the black 32GB.

Ack, I also missed the "Office 365" and other microsoft related things. A Windows phone might be the way to go for ultimate convenience unless you've grown accustomed to the Android-based work arounds.
