    Thoughts on tow rig

Seens I have large featherlite trailer that never gets used I figured I should consider buying a truck to pull my truck and other things around with.

What are thoughts on the 08-10 F-Series dizzles? I am obviously looking for a king ranch because I liked to be a semi-pampered redneck hick.

The 6.4 still has issues, that is just a revised 6.0 which is a well known piece of shit...but good for shops The new 6.7 has been ok...definetly better than the 6.0 and 6.4 Personally after working for Ford and Dodge for many years id go with a Cummins

The 6.4 is worse than the 6.0 and if you can afford 6.7 you have nothing to worry about. I know little about Cummins motors other than the 5.9 is sent from the heavens (what? Pre tier 3 diesels are reliable???) and the 6.7 cum we have has had more headgaskets than a fucking fleet of six liter Fords. Our 5.9 common rails all have leaking injectors and the trucks are the rattiest pieces of cheap fall-apart shit on six wheels. Its really shocking how poorly they handled a 1/4 million miles. At least the six liter Ford problems are predictable and the rest of the truck is worth a fuck. It may be navistar's noose but for some reason our business partners only want to give us their Dodge trucks....

                There is always this...

                ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

barack obama is president. You no longer need concern yourself with your own welfare. The government, as nanny state, will protect, provide and handle everything for you. All you need do is demand your "entitlements", continue to vote Democrat and watch Oprah.

Vote democrat... because your daddy's union boss said so and millions on welfare are depending on it.

After owning both a Ford dizzel and a V10 , I would go gas. Save the $$$$$ upfront. Cheaper to own, cheaper to maintain , cheaper to buy. It will do the job you need it to do. Most people only tow a few times a year. Just my opinion. The gasser will save you thousands up front for trucks that are equally equipped.
It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

Love my 6.4 almost 95k on it now and no issues. I do plan to do the dpf delete when I hit 100k and the warranty is over.

                      This!!!!

The 6.0 after you fix the BS is a good motor. Way better than the 6.4! The 6.7 is still new so... So far it has issues also and way more BS to go wrong in the future. I can count on 1 hand how many v10's I have had apart since 1998 when I saw the 1st one in a van. I can count on that same hand how many 6.0's I have worked on this week and Cummins is better but the truck is Junk.

I drive a 2011 6.7L for work every day. It has 61,000mi on it currently. It is on engine number 2, trans number 2, it has blown at least one turbo, and is currently leaking coolant. I was not using it when the engine went, but I have been told when Ford put the new engine in they re flashed the ecm for a much more conservative "work truck" tune. But as it is currently it is a total pooch, can't get out of its own way slow. To be fair it is a 20,000lb truck that is running almost 16 hours a day. I honestly think the drive train is not cut out for the use its seeing.

Everybody I'ver talked to with a 6.7l in a regular truck seams to be quite happy with them. My coworker has a couple 6.0l's he has deleted the egr system on and takes good care of. He loves them and works them hard (yesterday he was pulling a loaded cement truck that had blown its engine).

I dont know if you really need heavy truck or how much you plan to tow. But possibly a half ton with a eco boost. I have had mine about a year now, and other than the horse shit millage I am happy with it. It has good power, and pulls really well. I have towed a 12,000lb trailer with it, and was amazed with how the engine kept up. I much prefer driving a half ton for day to day use.

I did an EGR/DPF delete and tuner on a F450 King ranch Dualie 6.4 dizzle beast. Huge MPG and power gains, you should just do them both right now. All of it is fairly easy.

What tuner did you use? I've been looking at the spartan package.

SCT if i recall, had all sorts of nifty options, but I had never used a hand-held programmer before I used that one on the king ranch. It asked if you had a cold air intake, DPF delete, or an EGR delete. Mine had all of them, and then it had a whole bunch of different tune options, i want to say it had about 5 or 7 different tunes, plus slots for custom tunes.
                              Godspeed, on the Devil's thunder.
