House/deck staining pricing

Oh mighty TCS experts, I seek your knowledge. Sorry, I'm bored.

Anyway, I'm having a guy come out to bid on staining our house and I'm curious what a general going rate would be.

General house info:
Modified 2 story(AKA tri-level)
1500 sq ft.
7 Windows
2 patio doors
2 single stall garage door

Everything is cedar.

I know every house is different so it's difficult to estimate with that limited info, but here are a couple google maps pictures.




Any educated guesses on what it would cost to have it all stained? I really have no idea, but a guess would be $2000-$3000. Am I anywhere in the ballpark?

I have gotten a couple quotes to paint my house, which is very similar in size. They have been $2500-3000, that included scraping, priming and painting 2 colors. I'd assume staining is less work, so most likely less money.

Actually staining is more expensive. If I remember right, just our deck was something like $500 plus materials. That was 2 years ago and now it looks like it was never done.

We haven't stained our house since we moved in(6 years ago). The house is starting to look weathered(not terrible yet), but the deck looks really bad. There really isn't much stain left on it, so it would probably be easy for us to clean and stain it. The house on the other hand would require quite a bit of work and I'd like to just have that done.
