While I understand the premises behind it I feel this is a step too far, the vast majority of people pay the tax based on what they paid and are good honest people. So now in my eyes the state is quite literally stealing money from a large number of honest tax payers.

Everything else you buy is taxed so why shouldn't a car.

also most things you buy from a private party are not taxed. i don't see why the state feels they are entitled to a cut of this money anyway. but everyone just lays down and goes along with it because everything else is taxed.
