It is sad that this is a win win for the President and he is using it to help his agenda. The media will do a smoke and mirrors act about the fiscal cliff and we will go off it. The President will say he is working of saving the children and it is the fault of the republican party for not giving him anything to work with to prevent it. If the republicans work on a bill to prevent the fiscal cliff and present it they look like they don't care about our children. That is how it will play out in the news. In the end the president gets so much he wants, a huge push for gun control and the media and most sheep on his side for the sake of the kids and he gets more tax money from all and a smaller military. I bet he is doing a victory dance already behind closed doors.

Astute analysis. It doesn't matter what Republicans do, they will look like the loser in the end. Progressives have near 100% control of the mainstream media and control the message to their herded sheep. But Obama has learned like all good dictators have that a Congress or Parliament doesn't matter, you can simply executive order around it. It is very likely he will issue an executive order gun or ammo ban of some sorts. Trying to get any gun ban through Congress is simply not going to happen....at least in these first two years of term 2.

Regarding the fake fiscal cliff...Boehner is already starting to cave. In the end, a short term 'fix' will be agreed upon with another debt limit increase tacked on for good measure to pay for Obama's trillion dollar deficit for FY2013. With only two years left with some relevancy, Republicans should block EVERYTHING that has to do with agreeing to raise taxes and debt limits. Let the Bush tax cuts expire for everyone and absolutely NO raising of the debt limit. Do not let Oblamer claim victory for anything.
