damn! That is a fucking sweet house. How many garage spots? Almost looks like a duplex in the middle of the woods.

Where is that. How much did it cost. That looks like something I might like to buy if the price/location were right.

<---- Ex Farmboy, I had no problems with my 1/4 mile worth of dirt driveway with my blower.. maybe you need some chains on that blower. Once in awhile you'll have to level out the driveway if you're getting berms but once you get a small tractor with a hoe or blade on, you can level it yourself before the snow flies.

      This is a NO...

Something like this is for a large driveway..

We used reclcled black top for road base at my old job. We would run the packer over it a few times and wet it down between packs. It gets pretty hard and sticks together great. Asphalt seals up better than recycled concrete. If that were my place, I would definitely use that over gravel or crushed concrete. JMO! Sweet place! I'm so jealous!

It's in the Town of St. Joseph which is halfway between Hudson and Somerset. It's an unusual house and it took a long, long time before I found this house in my price range that would pass USDA Guaranteed loan inspections. It's a short sale/pre-foreclosure and the bank accepted my offer of $125k. The land and trees was a big draw for me- almost 4 acres.

It's not a big house though. The lower level is all garage plus a half bathroom and laundry/utility room. I don't have actual measurements but the garage is around 28x32. The upper level is around 1250 SF and has the kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room.

What I would like to do when I save up more money is to build a new garage and convert the entire lower level to living space and move the kitchen downstairs. A new porch would go along the entire front of the house.

Sure, I'll buy the brick and you'll do the labor and walk around with a flamethrower to provide the heat.

I'll update this thread with pictures of the driveway in November after I decide what to do and the work is done.
When we got to my place, I already had a candle burning. It was by "Glade", which I think you pronounce like the singer Sade, because it is an exotic candle that smells just like real pine.

leave the garage doors when you finish the basement, they're cool when you can have a car in your livingroom.

I've used the recycled stuff to base a few patios. It tamps down nice and hard. At $9 a cubic yard, it's hard to beat. Never had an issues.

Worked great where we couldn't get the Deere. Model's A B D. Had a 12a pull combine for the soy beans I miss the old hoppers. I miss the 32' ford the most.

I wanted to update the thread. I haven't closed on the house yet, should be next week Friday hopefully. The sellers gave me permission to have the driveway done as I wanted to do it before the ground froze. I ended up going with crushed asphalt and I think it turned out well.
