To our credit, I believe there are a few here who *may* have been able to do some good. But it's hard enough to shoot under the stress of a timer, much less tear gas, in the dark, with people all around, AND someone shooting back... so all the armchair commandos should just not open their mouths on this one

I agree with Chris on this. Lots going on. 100's of people, dark, tear gas screaming yelling and someone in body armor shooting back. And he had multiple weapons. My guess is the demographic of most of the people in the theater was not the PTC type. I am still a bit surprised somone did not take him out in the parking lot. Well I am more surprised he didnt eat one of his own bullets.

I cant say what I would do. If I was there, my kids would have been with me and they would have been my number one priority.

I'm not, would you want to be wandering out into a parking lot with a gun out, with a heavily armed gunmen, right after a major attack, with the police/swat arriving on scene at the same time? That's a good way to get smoked by Officer Jim-Bob who's never seen a real gunfight in his life, panicking and shooting at the first thing he sees out of uniform and with a gun.

He was sporting a bullet proof vest, most people I see at the range are shooting center mass, getting hit with the vest on would probably stun or knock him down, but not stop him. With the smoke/tear gas in a dark movie theater with that many unarmed people panicing and pushing out of the theater I think an accurate shot to the head would be difficult. A more highly trained individual like a combat vet or someone that is used to kicking in doors and neutralizing threats in smoke etc like a swat team member could probably get it done.

If you don't have night sights on your carry weapon, you should.
