I also found my old car on craigslist (denver). If you have any budget at all don't go to a classic car dealer. 90% of the cars their are over priced thanks to things like the Barret-Jackson.
I was at ellingson car museum the other day and all it made me want to do was throw mine up for sale to see what it would fetch.
they had a 68 GT fastback for 70k, and a mid 70's convert for 18k. Such a joke. But along with that, people think their trash is worth gold too.
Look south, and dont be afraid to trailer it home if you have to. An engine can be had for cheap, replacing floors, trunks, and rear fenders gets expensive.
Strooss thanks for the link I'm looking through that one places inventory and the majority is affordable but a lot of them look somewhat uncared for underneath. I really am a novice in the classic car department and am having trouble determining what I should stay away from. For example, look at the underbody, what do you guys think ?

Pictures hide alot i would find someone that knows classics to go with you to look at a car you are interested in. I dont know how many people ive met that thought they had a solid car and in about 2 mins i look at it and tell them its not worth fixing due to rust or parts of a car that look solid but are not what they think. Also looked at alot that the people said their solid and i go to look at them and they look pretty good but poke at the rails and find out their rusted out just look as if their is good metal their. A bit of rust may look fine to you but may be more hassle then you think to fix.
Looks decent, but simply because they took every photo in HDR leads me to believe the body panels are worse then they appear. I wouldnt touch it. especially for $15k.

I had no idea those were worth that in what looks to be marginal condition.
