WTB: Input on what to look for when buying Explorer. Issues? Northfield Ford?

Looking at an 06 Explorer Eddie Bauer with the 4.0L 5speed. Wish it had the 4.6 with the 6speed, but...

I've heard that these trannys can be trouble, is that true and if so, why?

Other than it not being my first color choice and the engine, it has most of what I wanted.

Any info on Domko Ford I should be aware of?

I have seen a few with burned up fuel pump driver modules. They were usually back ordered.
      Godspeed, on the Devil's thunder.

05 and earlier had rear wheel bearings that go bad, t-cases like to grenade, rear axle seals. Havent seen to many of the 06 and up, heard they worked most of those bugs out though

              I have a 2006 4.6 Eddy Bauer Explorer that I inherited.

Can't give the turd away. I'm so pissed with it I can't wait to trade it for an Acadia.

Will you enlighten us as to why so "pissed"? And I believe you haven't tried to "give" it to me yet.

I currently have an S10 blazer with 180k, if I can make that thing go that far all original, I shouldn't have an issue with a Ford right?

i don't know where you work... Eddie Bauer really means nothing. Ford totally screws up thier options. I see combinations all over the place. XLT's with climate control and chrome rims then limiteds with cloth or no CD player...
And WTH is with all the interiors being all camel, can't they find more than one set of charcoal seats? Even when they do use it, they flipp'n put camel colored pillar covers and headliners in them.

I have owned more than i can remember S10's. I lost track at 12.
Many of them with 200k and a few at 300+ the 06 top of the line explorer has 75k of the most be damned miles ever.
come and test drive it and tell me this is a nice solid truck. Then I can start picking it apart.
dealer quoted a price to change the plugs a few years back at $2,000.
I tried it myself ans snapped them in the cylinder head. This after soaking them in sea foam overnight and washing the cylinder walls.
It has this "AWS" and I don't know when the rear differential is going to grenade but its only time.
Lost a vacuum line and couldn't get out of second gear on Hwy 36 near Rosedalle mall. Almost killed the family.
most recently trim panels started to fall off. Thankfully Tousley sold me a rear trim piece for $130 instead of the other dealer's quoting me near $200 for a plastic chrome piece.

Oh the transmission is slipping bad. And I mean real bad. Thank god it is a "serviceless" pile of garbage. Who would want to change a filter and burnt fluid? Don't know what the dealer is going to use to show up my ass, but it is not going to be a shampoo bottle at a medium pace.

                        I can go on...
but I'm on a dumb phone and hate typing with it.

Many people in my family have bought many vehicles there. They all seemed happy.

I do know the dealership is named after a city in Norway.
