    furnace issues

My furnace kicks in and then it never ignites it just blows cold air. Its a Trane XL80, I opened the inspection panel and the red light is blinking slowly. I did this last night and it just kicked in and ignited. It won't tonight, any ideas?

If that's the case either flame sensor or thermocouple could be bad. Grainger stocks them.

Yes. I don't think this will be worth the $100 deposit, yet.

A quick fix i have herd is to used a dollar like sand paper on the sensor.

happened to us at our old place and it worked but only would fix it for a few weeks.

Thermocouples were typically used in older system with pilot lights. A modern system with electronic ignition wouldn't need a thermocouple.... they use flame sensors.

Haven't even took it apart yet. What is the sensor made of?

A flame sensor is about $12 or so and is an easy fix. Worth a shot anyhow.
