I have never heard that you can't put full coverage on a car because of a salvage title. Is that something specific to AAA?
So who is certified to appraise totaled vehicles?

I have full coverage on my salvaged truck. Also, stated value doesn't mean jack shit. I had a stated value on a trailer with full coverage and got offered 2k less because of comparables. Don't know why they ask what its worth if they don't honor it.

Mine was totaled and I bought it back. Not allowed to have full coverage. As I have allready been paid the value of the vehicle. If I hit a deer why would they pay me again?Jake H.

The quote of 4k+ was with PDROriginally posted by OhMannClint View PostCall someone that just does PDR for car lots. Adams dent repair is the guy we use on our lot and does a great job.
I understand that's the correct way to handle it, but..Originally posted by StangerJon View PostI agree with this statement. I know this same topic has been discussed multiple times here. report the work you've done to insurance and up your premium based on that. Otherwise, its just a normal car to them.
but that needs to be done before you're making a claim.
I started out just turboing it, not really worth getting it appraised just for that. Then a couple years later I added side skits, wheels/tires. Then a couple yers after that put in lowering springs, than later brakes....did little things over a long period of time. So there was never really a good time to say "ok I'm done lets get it appraised".
A modded car is never "done".

Check over your policy. sometimes you can force the insurance company into repairing the car. however in your case it's a escort.. take the hit on the title since you said you were going to keep it forever anyway and consider it a gift to buy more shit and enjoy the speed bumps on the car.

Fuck I'd run with the loot, seems like a very fair price, if the car meant so much to you and you knew it was something out of the norm you should have had it insured as a special car thru a specialized insurer, or had a ryder on the policy. For years you have been paying insurance based on a $1900 replacement price, to think you can collect more now seems to lack logic. Just take the money, buy it back, you will have to pay out of pocket but my guess is you have saved enough on insurance premiums to make up a large chunk of the difference.

This. I'm no expert, but I'd take one look at it and 'certify' that it's a fucking Escort and any money over scrap value is a WINOriginally posted by bluchev View PostDUDE, ITS AN ESCORT. Try to get the highest appraised value you can, and then try to work out a settlement slightly below the vehicles totaled out value to keep it from having a salvage title. If you end up with a loss consider it a lesson learned. Afterwords, talk to whichever agent you end up with about the vehicles actual value and payout before insuring it in the future.

Yes you are stupid, and its people like you that have a big part in why insurance is expensive.Originally posted by Jeffescortlx View PostThe quote of 4k+ was with PDRBuying muscle/sports cars/regular cars/trucks, send me info, I pay cash or credit card if that makes you feel better!
