I rolled the fenders on two of my cars. The first one I had the wrong angle and pushed the fender out rather than folding the lip, which cracked the paint. Learned after that. Second car was much better, but both needed repainting anyway so I wasn't worried.
You must use a heat gun. You have to constantly adjust things, and usually you have to work in sections as most wheel wells are not a constant diameter all through the arch. In the end, what often happens is on the lip you bend back, the top coat comes off, but the base coat stays attached to the metal. If you need the clearance, it's well worth it, if you don't need the clearance, then don't waste your time.
