quote it in context and you will realize that he's referring to stem cell research. if any of you have peeled your eyes away from political propaganda long enough to read any scientific material you would also realize that stems cells are remarkable and hold real promise of being able to fulfill these goals (although highly unlikely that they would be able to meet these goals in a 4-8 year kerry term partly due to years of what i consider to be off the wall retarded regulation of what stem cells are available for research.) now you can be against abortion, thats fine, you can be for embryonic stem cell regulation, but realize this; scientists are currently allowed to conduct embryonic stem cell research. they use embryos that were "conceived" in mass quantities in fertility clinics. huge numbers of these are discard and literally thrown away. no one cared about this. now people found a way to to stop what is literally a waste of life, and at least use what was already scheduled for the destruction to help people with various disabilities and diseases. no one is talking about stopping this (not even bush.) the real issue that the kerry is raising is the fact that scientists are only allowed access to a very small portion of the embryos that will be trashed, and the democratic party seems to have this crazy wacked out notion that instead of just destroying these things that many people believe are in at least some way, shape or form alive, they should be used for research.

call me crazy, but i agree that if the embryos are scheduled for destruction they should be diverted and used to actually enable and enhance life.

and if you knew where Bush stands you would know hes always said one thing and that is we need to move very slowly when it comes to stuff like this, when its laid out like you described its sounds like a win win situation, but if you understand anything about law making you will know that a bill could easly snowball into something we dont want.. like people growing embryos for money ect... Also he has always said hes not agenst it but is agenst using tax money to fund it, its up to him to see that tax payers wishes are met as much as possible and like it or not an embryo is the start to a human weather its slated for the garbage or not if its destroyed it will never be able to become a child, so in effect the govt would be funding something that is preventing life... many people have issues with this so taking it slow is without dought the right thing to do.
