iPad2 - killing thousands of jobs

Jesse Jackson Jr., a member of the house of representatives, believes that Apple's creation is evil incarnate. This merely one month after having sung its praises. Another reason to believe that MOST politicians do what they do because they can't survive in the private sector.

"A few short weeks ago I came to the House floor after having purchased an iPad and said that I happened to believe, Mr. Speaker, that at some point in time this new device, which is now probably responsible for eliminating thousands of American jobs. Now Borders is closing stores because, why do you need to go to Borders anymore? Why do you need to go to Barnes & Noble? Buy an iPad and download your newspaper, download your book, download your magazine," Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL, Chicago) said on the House floor Friday afternoon.

Ironically, it was only last month that Rep. Jackson was promoting the Apple iPad and Amazon on the House floor.

Doesn't make any sense, B&N and Borders both have their own e-reader. So they were helping to put themselves under?

things change, technology evolves, either adapt or face the consequences. Borders screwed up years ago when they turned over their online ordering to Amazon.

You know It's no secret Americans are not getting fat from food, It's because we don't have to leave the house as often and we are basically driving and being handed everything out of a window.. but we blame food.. big brother pushed trans fats, we basically were pushed into heart disease so I can only imagine how well they will Fuck up internet big business. If you're wondering what happens when the government gets involved look around you. The food pyramid is a prime example of heart disease.

Borders and Barnes& Noble were screwed the day that Amazon opened up. Was just a matter of time. I'm surprised they have lasted this long to be honest.

                  In a way.

Some people still like to go to a bookstore and look before they buy. Borders failed due to inept management. B&N will survive in a smaller capacity. It's not like blockbuster, where it has zero advantage over Netflix. Book people are a little different. Many still like a paper product, and many still like browsing shelves with a Starbucks in hand.

Yeah, there is truth to that. When B&N is gone I think Target and Wal-Mart will fill that gap for the "browsers" out there.

You mean browse the shelves to figure out what new CD or book to go home and boot leg off the computer.

I agree but people like that are a dying breed. I haven't bought an e reader yet, but I'm sure I will in the next year.

I have no desire for those stupid fucking e-reader things. I like books/magazines. I like going to barnes and noble and I used to like borders. Although I also have a flip phone. lol
