Happy, Happy Car Craft Memories 1996-1997

Looking back and getting awfully nostalgic looking at some photos on a computer I don't use so much any more... man it's getting me teary eyed but here is one I thought you all might enjoy.

It shows my yellow "mustang" with my friend's red 1979 Capri at the Car Craft Summer Cruise in 1997 I believe. That red Capri had been was my first car, when I turned 16. It started life with a German 2.8L V6 which served me well for Highschool-type duty. I started a 429 swap and went so far as to get a dana 60 under the rear with adjustable links on the standard bolt points. I ended up getting the fever for a tubbed car before I finished and sold it off as a rolling chassis.. Mark had a nice cage put in and finished the swap to make a pretty nice car for the 10.5" slick type of guy.

My yellow car is actually an identical Capri.. 1979. Obviously I've done a few modifications - only the original unibody remains.

The bottom line here is my parents are priceless. They allowed their garage to be dominated by my hairbrained schemes from the day I turned 16 (March 23, 1994) to the day I bought this house. Thank God for understanding parents.

Sorry, getting a little sentimental this passover night/morning.

That one has been there almost every year since 1996.. There was one horrible year I broke a float bowl at 7PM on a Friday night and brought my truck in instead. It was definitely there the past two years.

Did I talk to you? I always meet such nice people at that show.

Oh, ha ha! The applique for the shaker kit (fiberglass piece that sits on top of the hood and provides the proper bulge for the scoop) was still being painted the weekend of the show so i had a picture of what it's supposed to look like there for people to see. Just so they wouldn't think i just cut this ghetto hole in my hood and stuck a scoop on there.
