Man Accused of Drunk Driving in Major Crash Arrested Again
A man police say was drunk in August of 2010 when he crashed his car into three teens stopped at a red light in Woodbury has been arrested again. Ed Jaworski is in custody in the Washington County Jail after allegedly rolling his vehicle on 35W in Roseville.
The families of the parents of the teens injured in August have been frustrated to know Jaworski was free on bail awaiting trial and say they are disgusted but not surprised to learn Jaworski has been arrested again. Michelle Fitzpatrick's son Sean suffered the worst injuries in the crash, she's frustrated and angry that Jaworski was on the streets, "What's it going to take, does he need to kill himself and several others for this madness to stop. It's outrageous. It's sickening. The system needs to be changed."
Washington County Attorney Pete Orput says his office is doing everything they can within the limits of the law in the case, including seeking an upward departure from the sentencing guidelines. He says he understands the families frustrations, "The law sometimes allows people re-offend when they shouldn't and that's what i think we're facing here. Like it or not." County Attorney Orput says his office will be aggressive in arguing for the longest sentence possible.
Jaworski is pleading not guilty to charges stemming from the August crash. His trial date is set for March 21st.
