When did being Fat become a Handicap?

When did being Fat become a Handicap? I was thinking this last weekend when sitting in the parking lot at the local target waiting for someone. I was watching all the people parking in the handicapped spots get out of the car's. Not 1 was in a wheelchair, using crutches or a walker. A few were teenagers. The only thing I saw in common was there were all Fat and looked like they could use a good walk to get more junk food.

I am all for Handicapped spots for truly handicapped but this is ridiculous.

Is it that easy to get the tag for your car?

Looks pretty tame. Probably can't even get up over a curb. I'd just stick to the mall parking lots with that thing.

disability: the condition of being unable to perform as a consequence of physical or mental unfitness; "reading disability"; "hearing impairment"

I'd say being overweight would fit into that description.

Also... when you have physical disability, like say a broken leg, it's going to be pretty difficult to go jogging.

I rent a lot of cars, but I don't always know everything about them. So a lot of times, I drive for like ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the emergency brake. It's really not an emergency brake, it's an emergency "make the car smell funny" lever.

I am sure a lot of those people when shopping around the Holidays, will take mom ,dads, or grandmas HC tag so they can park there. I have seen it happen as well.

Looks like we need to make more handicapped parking spots then.

I bet if you broke your leg you could get a handicapped parking permit temporally. I am fine with that.

My ? is the government is trying to ban all the stuff that makes people fat but then rewards them with a parking permit to let them be lazy if they are already over weight rather then have the get a little exercise.

I know that happens, but I was seeing a trend.

On an average day I like parking at the back of the parking lot and walking to the store/my car. This truly is something that should not be a reward for being over weight.

I have fat out of shape relatives, they share a hc permit. Really bugs me, one reason I haven't seen them in 15+ years...damn lazy southerners.
