Obviously the dry spell is over. The big story is the high winds through Wednesday afternoon. NWS is forecasting steady state winds of around 30-35 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH...in the big city. Rural parts of the state will likely see even higher sustained winds with gusts over 60 MPH. Some rain showers, too, so those will feel nice pelting the melon.
Checking the Lake Superior forecast shows storm force winds of 55 knots (63 MPH) and waves building to 22-27 feet. That is a VERTICAL height of the wave measured from the base of the trough to crest, not the face of the wave. Those are some BIG waves. It was waves just a bit higher than this which were thought to contribute to the sinking of the SS Edmund Fiztgerald back in November, 1975.
Gilligan (1moretoy) better keep that bathtub toy of his on the trailer and let the big boys play on the lake. However, (Skipper) TRDon might get some decent wakeboarding in and he is man enough to try.
Should be an interesting couple of days.
