I don't know as I would show up at this BBQ, but I get what your saying about how any Islam slander is hush hush, and when they're burning Christian bibles and US flags thats their right and no one questions them. It makes me angry also.
Koran burning party?

I don't get offended when someone burns the flag, the bible or the koran. I have my own life to worry about and if some moron wants to buy something just to throw it away that's their business. I think it's financially irresponsible to do so though.Originally posted by Dirty Bird View PostI don't know as I would show up at this BBQ, but I get what your saying about how any Islam slander is hush hush, and when they're burning Christian bibles and US flags thats their right and no one questions them. I would assume you followed your oath and defended the Constitution of the United States which includes the 1st Amendment? As you well know that amendment gives us freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Without question this is a First Amendment issue and without question his right to burn that book is protected speech. There are plenty of types of speech which are limited. This is not one of them. His burning of the Koran is symbolic speech which is without a doubt protected.
As for what this country was founded on, much of what it was founded on is contained in that extremely important document. As mentioned, that document includes the freedom of speech.
People have a right to burn the flag. People have a right to burn the bible. People have the right to burn the Koran.
Do I agree that he should burn it? No. However, I fully support his right to do so.
(And, I know the point is now moot...for now.)

I agree. There are many places in this world where this discussion on an open and public forum would never be allowed, let alone allowing burning of a book.Originally posted by Southern View PostI love the fact that as Americans we can even talk about this, burning stuff and drinking beer

O'RLY!?Originally posted by LTDpower View PostThat was very Clarence Darrow'esque.
It sure is not an easy subject. I fully understand that the burning of the book could very well lead to more violence. And, I understand that sitting here in my safe and comfortable living room is a far cry from being on the front line and risking one's life in the fight against terrorism.
I guess that is why I am personally against his burning of it. Because I understand that a certain segment of the world population will use it as an excuse to incite more violence against us. And, I think it brings the guy one step closer to being like them.
However, there is a way to deal with this issue and that is to use freedom of speech to argue against what he is wanting to do using his right of freedom of speech. Huh? It is quite simple; use the right of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly to speak out against his burning of the Koran. No government intervention, no laws written, no arrests made. THAT is part of what this country was founded on.

If only you were older, you could have given others advice on proper wiping and we'd have Clean Sean instead of Dirty Sean.Originally posted by Turbohwagon View PostNo, never.... This. I've yet to see any of the "non-extremist" muslims over here (or anywhere else really) express outrage over the burned flags on 9/12/2001 in the middle east.Originally posted by svonasek View PostWhere is all the outrage when everyone else in the world is burning u.s. There are several reasons why they hate us,Originally posted by Fosters View PostThis. I've yet to see any of the "non-extremist" Muslims over here (or anywhere else really) express outrage over the burned flags on 9/12/2001 in the middle east.
1. We do not believe in "Allah", which in Arabic means "the One True God." which obviously conflicts with any other religion.
2. They envy our being rich and powerful.
3. Foreign policy, something that many of us know or care little about but effects other counties in a huge way.
4. we are corrupt, evil and must be destroyed
5. about 70% of us are christen, 20% have no theistic beliefs and the rest is mixed.
If you are not Muslim, living in a Muslim country, you are wrong, period. Its in their teachings and what they truly believe regardless of what they say.
They will never stop, never change until we are eliminated.
LOL U MAD
