I was thinking about the new police offerings and thought about the fondness for the P71 (size, full frame, RWD, etc). I then thought someone might get into the business of retrofitting the new engine/trans to the old and offering them to smaller PDs around. Increased performance. Decreased fuel costs. I thought it would make the P71 into the fighting machine it should have always been.

Because smaller PD's have budget coming out of their ass and can afford the extra $15-20k to retrofit a new 5.0 into a P71.

Neither 5.4 nor V10 fit without extensive modifications. 5.0 should fit using stock hood, engine mounts, etc. Just curious.

BTW - it will not take $15-$20K to retrofit...

Engine Less then $7k from Ford Racing.
Trans not needed, but new trans, engine and installation for under $12K is my bet With current P-71 completed depreciated already, this might make fiscal sense!
