Do you know of any wiring resources for using gm coil packs on other cars? I would like to get the dizzy out of my way for a new project and go distributorless.

i have a old 5.0 mustang a super fords mag and a guy used a ford 3.8 DIS plug like from a 94 3.8 mustang and you may have to use LS style coils cause these fire 2 cylinders at a time and i don't know if there are 2 cylinders on a 302 that fire at the same time if that makes sense lol

i can't remember what month it was but the car was on the cover and had ferrari brakes and wheels along with DIS it looks weird.. but it's the march 2006 issue and i can't find mine.. email them and you should be able to get the issue..

Firing two cylinders at the same time is wasted spark setup. One fires on the exhaust stroke while one fires on the compression stroke. Northstar's use a GM coil pack setup, on a V8, from the factory. You could convert over the wires by knowing the N* firing order and the Ford firing order ... like ... I dunno this...

        5.0 firing order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
        Northstar firing order: 1-2-7-3-4-5-6-8

So, where the northstar says "1" on the coil pack you plug that into "1", where it says "2" you plug that into Cylinder 3, etc. etc. It might also behoove you to look at a cylinder layout diagram to make sure the cylinders are numbered consistently between the two engines.

Goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.

They use a cam sensor/dist. plug, and an EDIS wheel. I have both the plug and a brand new 5.0 EDIS balancer....

Will the EDIS balancer change the factory pulley spacing?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, at least its getting bumped.

Even if it did, I also have a brand new shorty waterpump & timing cover combo w/ bolts for said setup.

I will get to researching conversion options. Im sure I can figure out how to get ahold of you if I decide go the EDIS route.

BTW, your bending tool and flare kit is still at Joe's, along with your new tranny cooler.
