    WTB: Cobra Driveshaft for IRS

Okay so i guess none of the FOUR driveshafts i have (Turbo Coupe, Mark VIII, Zeph, and LX 5.0L) has the right end for the IRS's flange. Anyone have a factory IRS Cobra driveshaft laying around?

That mark 8 shaft, if you still have it, is it for a 93? If so, PM me.
    No sig for you.

The flange you need "should" be the same as on the ford 2wd pickups that used a flange, and I would assume you could get one from a junk yard like U-Pull.

The flange off the driveshaft you got from me should work, as the Cobra and the Mark VIII use the same center section...In fact, I don't think there is any difference between a Cobra and a Mark VIII/T-bird/Cougar pumpkin except the Mark VIII and Cobra use aluminum, T-bird and Cougar use cast iron....and the axels I think have a different number of splines.

          It's from a '98.

It's possible that the TC is different from the MN12 series of birds though.

i held all 4 of them up to the flange and the bolt holes are nowhere near. maybe i got an oddball one or something; it's off an '04. they seem to all be the same as each other (i'll double check), but different from the IRS flange.

work in progress, if you could grab me one, that would be great.

yeah, i guess you're welcome to the Mark VIII driveshaft. You can pay Frankie for it.

Either way, i'm not going to bother fighting with all this before Car Craft. Solid 4-lug axle it is, until i can straighten all this out. Car's going to be loud though. i don't have a complete solid axle catback for it.

I just had a thought...how about jsut the companion flange off of a T-bird/Cougar/Mark VIII? Should be SUPER easy to find at a junk yard! Should be the same from 89-98.

yeah, that's a good idea. i'm a little wary about removing the pinion nut though. with my luck it'll howl after that.

The tbird/mrk8 flange should fit, I used a frpp pumpkin that was a direct upgrade to the IRS cobras...

But for some reason he says it doesn't?

I just gave allstock93gt a take out shaft from a 03 cobra that has the right flange still on it. You might need to get a hybrid u joint to make the swap work.
PM him or call him if you can get the number from phranquy.
                        Progress. Should be fun.

i'd rather switch the end of the driveshaft than the flange. that is, if the u-joints are the same. i'll do whatever though. i just want it to work.
