  • 1995 Cobra R for sale

I have decided to convert one of my 00R's to track duty, which would make my 95R uneeded anymore. Here is the info, if you have any questions, email me at grothimp@cannon.net

1995 Cobra R #23 of 250 with 5300 miles, never crashed or body damage. Have all the original parts so the car can be put back to original.

    Griggs K-member (installed 8-02)
    Griggs a-arms (installed 8-02)
Griggs bump steer kit (installed 8-02)
Koni adjustable shocks with Griggs coilover kit (installed 8-02)
Griggs solid steering rack bushings (installed 8-02)
Griggs adjustable panard bar (installed spring 03)
    Maximum Motorsports torque arm
    Maximum Motorsprts lower control arms
Recaro SRD seats with 5 point harnesses
    6 point roll bar
    Brembo 13" brake kit
    Differential cooler
Dash pod mounted engine temp and oil pressure guages
    trunk mounted battery
    brake ducting
    Momo steering wheel
    Cold air kit
    air pump delete kit
Maximum Motorsports full length subframe connectors
    255 lpm fuel pump

Engine has never been opened up, runs great and is a great running/handling car. I want more power and am not willing to start opening the engine up to do it. I think I will go get a cage put in one of my 00R's and start with that.

I want $30,000 for the car with all the stuff listed above plus the original takeoff parts.

Oh my! This is the one car I thought you wouldn't sell!

Someone needs to buy this thing, from what I hear it's one heck of a car.

I do love the car, but I have to many and want more power. I personally have a fobia about opening up an engine to get more power, it seems like alot of people have nothing but trouble after doing so.
I drove a friends 00R in Iowa this weekend and decided I was going to bring the 00 out of hibernation.

awesome car, awesome deal. Having stood underneath this vehicle I will say: "wow!"

Not that Brian needs any sort of testimonial here to begin with.. but still!

Here is one of the crew up at BIR for the PDE event. Brian's car is in there

Here is another one of the car in action. (Actually I don't know if that is actually the 95R, I just thought it looks bad ass.

So it lacks power, why not just drop a blower on it?

That is actually my dads car, but mine is almost exactly the same. ( I brought my red 01 Cobra to Brainerd)

I think conservative boost with a conservative tune would easily pick up 100 hp and be stone reliable, but thats just me. Its too bad you don't want to touch the motor, a simple heads/cam/intake swap (saving the stock stuff) could also easily be worth 80-100hp without having to spin it over 5800 or so. Not my toys though...

Thanks for the idea's, dan. Remember, this is a track car that goes out and runs hard for 20-30 minutes at a time. Dealing with the heat on s/c engines has proven to be the problem.

So if you were to do heads and a cam, what specificaly would you guys say would be the best overall setup? I would only consider aluminum heads and please remember I am not concerned in the least about peak hp like the drag racers are. We like a nice broad power band with lots and lots of torque that will hold up under hard running for long periods.

                      Thanks, Brian

My choice would be AFR185s, & custom cam. Intake is a little tougher as there aren't a lot of choices for the 351, I looked at Edelbrocks website hoping they had a 351 version of the Performer RPM II in the works, but saw no mention of it. I think I'd use an Edelbrock 351 lower with a regular RPM upper, or maybe something like a dual plane carb RPM Air Gap converted to EFI. The TFS 'R' would be great for drag racing, but give up too much torque for road racing. You could also just port the Cobra intake thats on it, getting the upper extrude honed, that would give up some upper end power to the others but make a helluva midrange torque curve.

P.S. in case no body noticed the red 93 cobra is about to run down the 95 R lol, also Brian at high tech did a motor for a guy with a 95 cobra R's, might want to give him a call and find out what all went into that and what the end results were, Dan will the stock pistons on his 351 have piston to valve problems or is that a 302 specific thing?

The pistons have a large dish that I think provides plenty of clearance even for a 2.02 intake valve, would be worth verifying though.

BTW, is that "about to run down" or "just got passed".....??

Hey, what do you guys think of this idea. You can still get the 351W Lightning engines (long block) new for $3000, which has the same marine block as the 95R.
Buy one of those, put the heads, cam, intake, ect to get the hp I want and drop it in the 95R and keep the original engine in storage? It would be a pretty easy swap, right?
