Like the title says, looking for a 4R70W to put behind a 5.0. May be interested in crossmember, shifter, linkage, driveshaft, etc. So, will consider a roller as long as the tranny is still in it.

I have one in my 64 and it changed the car for the better. I bought mine years ago from Crosstown for around $200 with harness and converter. It had 55k on it and looked like it when I opened the pan. They did not even charge a core since they wanted it gone. He said it had sat a year and that was the limit for them. Apparently the key is 2000 on up V6 Mustangs that do not tear up the trans and have the Windsor bolt pattern plus a better shifter location than a truck. If it has less than 100K on it and looks OK I would use it as is with less than 450 HP. I bought a US shift controller and they told be to leave the valve body alone until I tried the controller. It can be programmed to shift harder than my old PA C4 and I was told it would handle 450 HP as is by Baumann. I beat on mine and it is still perfect years later. Try auto car-part.com,that is how I found mine. I think I actually paid more for another converter than the trans and controller. I have 4:10 gears and octane huffer told me it needed the tail shaft oil mod to live - that was after the bushing was damaged.
This place has one for $150 with 86K http://www.dillonsautosalvage.com/

Thanks for the info! I have been checking carpart.com and may go that route. Although my first choice would be a parts car to get the harness, shifter, driveshaft, crossmember, etc, without having to buy everything separately. We'll see. This tranny is going into a 64 too, a 64 Falcon. The EFI Mustang 5.0 in the car is stock, so strength shouldn't be a concern. Thanks again.

This is a link to my swap from a while back. http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/tran...ssic-ford.html
I modified a shifter to work and that is where the stang trans helps. I ordered a shaft on line and think it was the way to go. You may want to get a harness from someone like us shift or you can modify the one that should come with a used trans. Someone may make a cross member for yours. I got a couple cross members from upull but they needed so much modification I just started from scratch. If you have some questions I may be able to help.
