Am I able to drill and tap a older 351 block to use the spider and rollers off a 5.0 or is it different?

You can, but you'll need to run a retrofit roller camshaft to make it work.

We got a roller 351w from a junkyard for $300 and it was a runner. They can be had for reasonable if you check car-part or junkyards and craigslist.

It can work, you have to use a small base circle roller cam and you my have to clearance the block for some of the dog bones. Another and better option is to use the linked retro Hyd roller lifters.

Search craigslist too - I got this jem for $100 and with 180K+ on it I got away with just a line hone on it...
