  • FS: 1986 Polaris Indy 400 $950/BO

I need to sell this! Since I started school I don't have time to ride. My dad bought this for me after I got my snowmobile license. Well... afterwards it fell apart within 2 hours of riding. So...

It is a Indy 400cc liquid cooled.

The motor and clutch was completely rebuilt and has less that 500 miles on it.

It has a aftermarket suspension in the back with 10 inches of travel that rides perfect; also less than 500 miles.

It has an 93 (?) XCR 440 hood. It isn't perfect but it doesn't look bad at all.

I have greased everything before each season and all the bearings are new. Each spring I fogged the motor and used fuel stabilizer so the cylinder walls should be perfect.

The track is low on tread, If this ends up being a deal breaker, buy the track and I will put it on for you. (I may be able to get a cheap track as well)

Also, if someone buys it, I will rebuild the carbs for you before you take it as it was not run last year.

Hand warmers work and it has a new headlight.

There is about 1400 bucks between the motor and suspension. Basicly I bought a big piece of junk and replaced everything, this sled has never been farther than 20 miles from my house and only ran maybe 2 winters. The speedo doesn't work but there is definately less than 500 miles (this is only a guess) on the sled. This thing isn't slow cause its a 400 either, could stay with any 500 fan cooled; and I smoked my friends XCF 440. Thanks.

Here are some pics, sorry they are not great. I can't pull it out from the deck by myself.

    Also, 3 other notes:
A correction on where the sled has been. I forgot that 2 years ago I took it to Michigan. However I was there to snowboard and when I did go to ride it actually down poured rain after I had gone uptrail 10 miles, so we turned back. It sucked as the trail pass was like 40 bucks.

If the carbs don't need to be rebuilt I'm not going to do them, but if they obviously need it I will (I think they should be ok but I just want to let any potential buyers know)

The heim ends were also all replaced so the steerings is much tighter than most old sleds.

I realize this is a old sled and I prolly won't be able to give it away but oh well, if no one buys it I guess I'll just have to keep it and maybe ride it haha, Thanks for looking.

Nothing wrong with it. Clutch comes in a bit early which I'm going to fix, and it idles kind of high because it could use new throttle cables. No trailer anymore. However There is a truck for sale in the other section.
