looking for a set of speakers for my basement. I have a decent receiver with a set of little speakers with hardly any bass... would like something bigger with bass!
If all you want it is stupid bass and speakers that can't keep up just go buy a cheap old subwoofer off CL.
I would sell my whole audio system for $2200 if you want something that will blow away just about anything you've likely ever had a listen to.
A couple good branded subs you can search around for are an SVS or HSU. I don't think they pop up on CL too often though, they're largely keepers when purchased from what I've read. I'm planning on selling my current towers with matching center and surrounds in the near future, but they're not huge thumpers (dual 8" woofers) compared to an actual specific sub woofer. The towers would be a nice match with the receiver though, if it's the nice old one.

Your setup is good but far from blowing away what I've heard. I listened to acrucrazys b&w shit with some fancy McIntosh amps. That was amazing to the ears.

That's why I said "likely have listened to" because oh yes there is better stuff out there (why else would I consider selling what I have?) I was at the mongolia center not too long ago and listened to some B&W speakers and I was not impressed, in fact I would would rather have my current towers. And if you still want to go the maintosh and B&M route your going to spend $6k for just the pair of amps and towers, used. If I sold my current stuff I would be looking for a pair of good amps and some elctostatic hybrids and I would be breaking the bank doing so.

Oh and I've upgraded everything but my towers since the last time you were over...
