Those are their class indexes, this is qualifying, the faster you go, the farther under your index you go, the higher you qualify.

        8 591 BB/AT Joseph Wilczek, Little Falls MN, '00 Must 6.707 7.17 -0.463

Joe would be -0.463 under his 7.17 index, that is how Comp, Stock, Super Stock work.

So they are doing it for a "better" position in the ladder board for eliminations?

comp runs all out in qualifying, come eliminations they lift and drive the finish line as not to go over .500 under their index and still beat the other guy. If they do they get cic which is a hit to their index. they take a few hundredths off it (depending on the conditions at the event). So in turn you and everyone else who has a car in the same class has to run faster in order to compete (which pisses everyone off). (this comp field is slower than normal and has less cars.)

FYI nhra should eliminate turbos or give them their own comp class (apart from the n/a cars), they are wrecking it for everyone else

O ok. So its like normal bracket racing except you get to run faster than the index you posted with out getting DQ'ed... That sounds dumb but ok. I guess I have never liked bracket racing. Never made made sence to be able to cross the line second, going slower but still win.(with out the exception of a red light)
                Heads up FTW
Why do you say turbo cars are wrecking the class?

Some of these turbo cars (Bruno & Mihovitz) have the ability of running one full second under their index. Sounds good for them, but you will NEVER get a n/a car to run that far under their index. Being able to turn the screw and go further under your index than the next guy is priceless in comp.

So why not put a turbo on then?

That situation will be changing soon enough. Sovereign wants to race so star races. My brother and I hung out with the star racing folks last weekend. They are the best bunch of two wheelin dudes I've ever met.
