First time...

So, I'm really thinking about trying to make it up to BIR when you guys go up there. I've made a few laps there back when I still had a motorcycle, but I've always wanted to see how it was with 4 wheels.

What do I need to get started? Any good information sites that I should be checking out?

Don't think about it. Just do it. The only thing you need are working seatbelts and a helmet. Everything else is just a utility to make you go faster and with more confidence.

All you really need is a properly functioning car and be ready to learn & have fun! I've got some information on the registration page that might answer some of your questions. Check it out HERE

But Scot is right, just get signed up and come up there with us. It is really a great time & you get to meet a bunch of great people as well. I'd be happy to answer any questions that I can and there are a bunch of guys on TCS that can really help out. Lots of track experience in this forum
