What a way to start a season

Went down to MAM on Friday to run the afternoon and then run with Damian and findtheline on saturday. My goal was to shake the race car down and make sure everything is ok before the first race in three weeks.

On the track for my fourth session and started smelling coolant, just as I pulled up to my trailer steam came out and there was water running out from the timing cover, behind the water pump. It really is not a big deal, more than I could fix at the track so I packed it up and decided to head to the hotel for a good nights sleep before I head home.

Left Council Bluffs at 5:30 am for home with my 7 year old daughter. About 50 miles before the Minnesota border, I saw the generator door blowing open. I pulled off and the lock had broken. No big deal, easy fix.......when I get home. Got back on the road within a few minutes and just as we got into Minnesota we heard a huge bang. I pulled over and looked everything over, couldn't find anything wrong so I decided to take off again. As soon as I put the truck in drive and started to move I knew something was very very wrong with the truck. With the throttle to the floor, the truck would only go about 45 mph. Feels like either the tranny is slipping or the engine is in a limp mode. No warning lights and tranny temp was still ok, so it is only speculation on my part at this point.

Thanks to Dave and Steve from Carriage House Customs for borrowing me their Chevy to come pull the trailer home. The F'en King Ranch is sitting at the Ford dealer once again. Sure love owning a Ford Super Duty again. lol

What a way to start the season.

Shitty but god thing it is probably an easy fix on the car and the truck is under warranty(i assume). Just remember, it could have been worse.

        Hey Brian,
I am sure I will have similar luck when I start pulling with my Ford...Finally ordered my trailer on Friday. I dream of Toyota trucks at night after owning my Ford for 5 months.

Starter, Batteries, water pump, radiator, glow plugs, tires and a fuel heater.
My couch pulls out but I don't.

New hooptie Ford trucks scare me. I'm thinking about getting a good old 460 Ford truck from the early 70's to trailer my Jeep around. Wish I had a reason to trailer the mustang around.

if i had to bet on it he blew off a turbo inlet tube under boost, sounds like a cannon going off and is very common on the SuperDuty. No inlet tube no boost no go. I have heard of a few of these doing this underload. Check thoe clamps on a regular basis.
It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

Murphy's law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Hopefully all the weak links were broken now, instead of later on in the season, causing you to miss a race or worse.

If you'd spend your money on track day entry fees instead of heads and cams and such, then you would.

I hear about it every day with DSMs. Same principle, boost has to be controlled or its going to be a bigger problem.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Brian. Hope it all works out okay. I'm no expert but what these guys are saying makes a lot of sense to me. Had the same issue with the Camaro when it had the T-Trim on it.

02 powerstroke here. A very hard life, plowing , towing, hauling, 150k, and only some front end work needed, very reliable. Toyota can suck it.

It was the turbo that went on the truck. Said Fug it and traded.
