Signup for Valley Fair Autocross on www.myautoevents.com?

I was wondering if anyone knows about the changes to the registration requirements for the autocross events. Last year I was able to reserve a spot for the Valley Fair autocross on www.myautoevents.com but this year they require payment to sign up. I checked the signup list and no one has registered for the May 6/7 event. Is anyone going to preregister?

They made it prepay for registration only because last year was ridiculous. Basically, everyone just preregistered for every single event at the beginning of the year, basically filling each event up completely (no room for new registrants). Then a crap load of people didn't show, it just made it a headache to deal with. A couple events it actually hurt the turnout because a lot of people that wanted to go did not due to the event being full, and with the preregistrants not showing up, the event was actually nowhere close to full.

The whole thing was ridiculous. I said they should have made it prepay from the beginning, I am glad they did for this year.

Thanks for the replys. I know what your saying because the registration was full when I tried to sign up and had to watch everyday for a cancelation. I finally got in though.

I'm considering the PDE but I'd like to shake it out at autocross event first. I've been doing alot of engine/suspension work and need somewhere close to test. It's not street legal so I can't take it out on the road. Dang neighbors and cops.

I would imagine that you could "test and tune" much beter at a PDE open track day type of thing than you could at an AutoX. You only get about 5 minutes or so of seat time at an AutoX....then you're doing BS like chasing cones between run groups.

I might run Elko practice night the Thursday before the PDE just to work the bugs out. I ran it a couple times at the end of last season. They let me go out alone and run the figure 8. I spun it out once but I kept it off the wall! The racers get priority so if its busy you don't get as much track time. The PDE should have alot of track time for the money, I just want to be sure the car is ready.

Keep us posted on that. I too, have done a lot of work this winter and need to do a little sorting before MAM. I am hoping, nothing falls off the car that I can't re-install to drive it back home from MAM.

Did you happen to bring that car out to Valley Fair last fall?

That is the great part of the PDE, no working the track. I hated that part of the autocross. At the end of the day, no one was working the track to pick up cones during my session. They all were BS'ing in the pits.

PDE uses 20 minute (roughly) run groups so you have plenty of time to go over things between sessions. You can even pit and rejoin your group if you want to make some quick changes like tire pressure or something. Most 'street' cars don't do the whole 20 minute session due to heat, though. In the afternoon the track becomes 'open track' and you can be out there as long as you want. Lots of time for T-n-T.

100+ miles on the track is very easy. Many get 150+ miles but are physically wore out.

I brought it to the last Saturday event at Valley Fair. I ended up breaking the upper right mount for the Steeda 5 link panhard bar. It happened in the NE righthand corner of the track. The track had some bad bumps in that corner, the car jumped sideways and broke the mount. It's fixed and welded up better. The previous owner did a bad job installing the 5 link. It just sucks when it happens a long way from home and you spent alot of $$$ to drive it.

92mnstanger and I were the ones that came over and chatted with you a bit about your car.

I still have pics of it on my phone.

The NASA BIR event is over Memorial weekend, I'm not sure yet if I'm going to make it. It's the closest track event around and I'd like to attend.

a few of us are planning on it. 92mnstanger talked me into going up there, and I am sure the maloneys probly will go. and badspeller will be racing in the NASA event. along with thor racing in the event also. from what I hear these two are going to be racing.
