why do you think that you can autox with shitty tires, but you cant drag race with shitty tires?
argue about participation.

Well with a car that makes real power and tourqe the tires will spin which in turn will give you a shit time.
Who is auto crossing with shitty tires anyways? I would never do it without good rubber.
Buying muscle/sports cars/regular cars/trucks, send me info, I pay cash or credit card if that makes you feel better!

A lot of the fun in drag racing is feeling the launch off the line, which will not happen if you have crappy street tires that sit there and spin. Just ask outrun how his drag racing attempt on his autox tires went.
Where conversely, autox takes so much more into consideration than just tires (though they play an important part on a competitive level!). Driving skill, type of car and suspension, track conditions, all take a much greater part in determining your success than in drag racing, where the struggle to equalize power and traction is your main goal. Autocross and drag racing are two very different motorsports, with much different dynamics.Originally posted by NickThe choice is easy.

exactly. you complain about people that make excuses to not autox. but then you throw one out yourself.

Jon you have no clue, if you have a car that makes a ton of power there is absolutley no way you will hook up on reagular tires at the track or on the street. And if your talking about Ryan (Zinc) he cut 2.0 60's which is shit but still ran great times but nowhere near what he would run with traction say a 1.60 60 foot.Buying muscle/sports cars/regular cars/trucks, send me info, I pay cash or credit card if that makes you feel better!

appearently I have no clue.
I like to run what I got, not borrow shit to make my car completely different.
can I borrow your brakes? mine dont work as well as I would like them to. I would be able to turn much better times if I had nice brakes.
^^^^thats basically what runs through my head when you say you cant go fast in a drag race with out tires.

So by that logic..... say a AWD car... cut a .5 sec better reaction time to a car thats making 350+. then that same AWD car cut a .5 sec BETTER 60ft time then said rwd car...
Would it be logical to say that said AWD (say STi for arguments sake) "could" put a bus length on said 350 hp RWD car (say GTO with nawwwz) ?
Just a question.

I auto-x with almost-bald-nittoz and they do fine once they get heated up.. which is usually by the 3rd-4th turn.
I really think that tires are important on auto-x.. espically with rwd v8 cars because it seems very easy to spin out if you power out of a corner and your rubber doesn't hold.
But if you know you have shitty tires, I can see how you could restrain yourself a bit on the track and still have a good time without any spin outs.

well, judging by your MPH, you probly wouldnt have went too much faster if you did have drag tires.
