I want to do this, but I have never done a real auto cross before, just the short course at car craft. Do they have the tech inspection stuff listed somewhere? I'd hate to sign up and have my shitbox not pass tech. What class would I be in? Do they have a beginner class?

Will I get laughed at if I show up in a beat up old cobra and run the slowest times possible?

Tech inspection: Have the interior of your car clean of things that can move around (floor mats, etc...basically everything) and have your battery secured properly. MAC inspection will also grab your wheel and shake it.

Beginner class was SI. I think it's just called "Novice" now.

If you are female, you will be leg humped, not laughed at, regardless of the time you run. Just like anything else I guess.

        COM event on Sept. 15th

I will be there with my silver 2002 Roush. FG77 you should run in the novice class 1st time out. I usually start the day with 3/4 full tank of gas and can offer help with tire pressures, etc.

The car has staggered 18's, 275 wide front and 295 rear. And its all stock except lowering springs, and surely will be the only beat up mystic cobra there so I should be pretty easy to spot. I'm all ears as far as suggestions

I have a helmet. My car just needs a battery hold down before then. Otherwise I'm down for this, gonna preregister Monday.

Well Fordgirl those are the same sizes I run, Nitto NT05. Our cars are similar so start at 36 front and 34 rear cold. Helmets need to be 2005 or newer Snell rated. The MAC Website has a full set of rules. They (COM) may have loaner helmets but you would probably want to bring a liner? The earlier you arrive the better in terms of pit space choice. Bring a folding chair, some cold drinks, sunscreen, a hat and painters tape for numbers. You will spend time shagging cones, everyone has to work at least one run group. Typically you will get 3 timed runs in the a.m. and 3 in the afternoon. It's a lot of fun, a great way to improve your car control skills and most of the people are really nice.

I look forward to meeting a fellow TC Stang enthusiast and I always need help trying to beat the Vettes. DP

You do not have to be a member of COM or Nordstern. Just sign up and pay if you want to run the event. DP

I did this for my first time this spring and actually you have a lot less people watching you then Carcraft or Amery. It usually is about a min track and it is to long to watch the whole race from one spot.
