I used to see haliburton doing a lot of work in so cal as well, they are huge!!
We ran a gamma tool for our injection profile surveys, along with a temp, tracer, casing collar locator and sinker bars. we would use the spinner if we needed too, espcially surveying a dual we had never surveyed before.
are you talking about a gyro survey, where they can get a 3d type view?
What we use is MD, INC, AZ, TVD, and VS. my job is seriously that simple. but from what we have they could do 3d. we just don't. The tool does read temp but we don't see that as geo's.
I see them quite often in travel. when I roughnecked I'd see them once per hole for the wireline surveys that they'd do, easy night for us roughnecks. now I come out mainly just for the horizontal and we have sperry sun(halliburton) out here running an MWD tool to give us surveys for deviation. after we get to our kickoff point we change out the MWD tool so that we can start getting gamma each foot. we have no need for a wireline crew to come to our rig.

no, shit no. I applied for a job and they asked me if I could tell the difference between some rocks. I said yes so there I got the job. seriously. I roughnecked for a while and that was enough experience for mudlogging up here.
CCR, did you attend the school of mines by chance? I have oilfield experiance in the E-line, wireline and slick line stuff. lots of work on oil, gas and some geo thermal well work, lots of temp, tracer, spinner surveys down hole. fluid entery surveys and pressure surveys as well.

this sounds just like my work (my nards) the store manager gets 60k then during the summer gets 50k+ but when you are a department manager u get no more then 12 an hour unless you have worked their for 10 years.
you do get a bonus but i dont know how much it is.
They still give you an extra $2.50/hr for working weekends?

I was a 2nd assistant... Although when I started our store didn't have a 1st assistant so I got fucked on that deal... Then after 2 months we didn't have a store manager. It was me and some other stupid bitch running the store, she couldn't do anything besides tell people what to do which meant I had to do all the hiring, training, most of the money, weekly shit, inventory.... God damnit I hated that job with a passion.
Corporate pay scale... As I remember at least:
Store mgr: ~50k + bad ass bonuses, more like 90-100k for a good volume store
1st asst: ~40k + good bonuses, like 50-60k/yr
2nd asst: ~32k + bonuses, like 40k/yr
When I put in my 2 week notice they offered me 29.5k/yr and 1st asst title within 6 months putting me at about 35k/yr, I was 20 o something and didn't want to live any longer with the stigma of working fast food.
