The only issue I see with them is the price. A decent used 07+ will set you back $35,000+ with ~50K. Diesel trucks are just stupid priced right now. I paid $33,000 for my Cummins new in 06 and I see the exact same truck for sale right now for $32,000 with more miles than I have .

You may be able to save a little money and pick up a 06-07 Classic. My brother has two Duramax trucks right now. They pull like crazy and ride awesom. His 07 classic now has a lifetime warranty from GM because of all the issues they had with it. The truck left them stranded at least 12 times... just up and shuts off while driving down the road. GM doesn't know why it does it. His 06 has run great other than needing to replace both front hubs, idler arm, pinion seal, two injectors, both batterys and they had to pull the trans for something all in the first 50,000 miles. A friend of mine has an 08 with a similar experience.

Yeah, these sound like some great trucks.

One is a safety hazard that should have been bought back a long time ago. The other has needed just some "minor" maintenance in "only" 50,000 miles. Cheese and rice...

The way trucks are priced now It seems crazy to buy a new one unless you NEED it, especially a diesel. How many miles do you have on your current truck?

Remember too that fuel is on the rise and diesel will probably be at least $1.00 more than reg unleaded. I found what you need right here http://www.procharger.com/GMtruck.shtml . A paid for truck is WAAAAAY better than one that costs you $600/mo to pull a trailer with 20 times a year. Change your truck to make it more fun and yours. Ad some nice leather, maybe rims, procharger etc...

well pulling 10k with a half ton sucks, and is a pain to drive. i plan on hitting a bunch of races this year so it will be almost a must.

i looked a the 03-07 and i cant talk my self out of the new body style and supension.

if i put a charger on the 1/2 ton it will still be a over worked half ton at the end of the day and more pron to break downs with the charger on it. i like to leave my drivers as stock as i can.
i have 28000 on my current rruck in almost 3 years most of the miles are from trips as i only put on about 10 miles a day normaly

thats the plan, but 55xxx for a truck i drive everyday and pick up parts in is a bit much, for somthing i can buy for 30 thats not as new and will also get me a write off. plus i only pull a trailer 20 times a year. just sick of doing it with a gas motor

Dont get me wrong I would trade my Dodge in for a GM if I could find a comparable truck and if they were willing to do a straight trade. The GM trucks are the best selling trucks for a reason (no it isnt Ford). They ride great and are reliable once you get the gremlins worked out.
Oh and the Duramax has changed many times since it was released. LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM and LML
