Carrying a gun

Seeing a thread of how excited someone seemed about finally gettig their conceal and carry permit, got me thinking...

It seems like there is an overwhelming number of tcs members that legally participate in the conceal and carry gun thing. I understand that it is your right to do so, and that's great it is still an option as far as freedoms go.

However, what I don't get, is why. Why do you (those who carry) choose to carry a gun on you? What is the purpose of it? To scare? To actually shoot someone? Because you like guns that much? I assume everyone that carry's has their own reasoning of some sorts, and that is what I am curious about.

I don't carry a gun.... And I have never felt the need nor the desire to do so. In fact I would consider it a complete burden. I also would avoid a situation that would make carrying a gun necessary. But that's just me.

So let's hear it.

I have no desire to ever carry, and I have been in one situation where I would have needed it.

I have a pocket knife for situations. My pocket knife also makes me feel...well protected.

I'm also slightly jaded since I deal with the idiots in society all day every day... I tend to think everyone is a dirtbag

If you dont watch your own back who will? srsly. There is alot of selfish people in this world and they aren't going to take advantage of me

I carry a bag of marbles. If I ever get hassled I just dump them on the ground run. The bad guy will step on the marbles and fall down and I get away safely

I am more worried that someone would find a way to take it from me than the freak situation where I might need it.

That and I would shoot bitches on cell phones in traffic.
