Assuming you're a bigger guy >175lbs, an older 600 should be fine.

Here's what I got as a "starter bike", though I think I'll be hanging on to it indefinitely:





Yamaha XT 600.


Pavement gets boring after a while.

Get a dual sport, and come riding with us.

Pavement doesn't get boring if you know where to ride. I'll take the twisties in Wisconsin over dirt trails.
