I'm writing an article for the Star Tribune Cars section "Locals in Motion" column. Why Mustangs? How much of your time and $$$ do you spend on your cars? How do you spend it?
want to talk to Mustang fans

why Mustangs? They're just cool, that's why. Modifications to the car usually end up totaling the blue book value 3 or four times. You don't get it back. Maintenance is more thorough, these cars are tough but repairs are needed because of hard driving and most of all... modifications are addiciting and the parts to do that are plentiful (to say the least)

Why? Because parts are relatively decently priced, you have a ton of different manufacturers to chose from, working on the 5.0 motor is pretty easy, there are numerous transmissions available, the aftermarket is huge making you into a straight line or corner fanatic, etc etc etc.

Yes. Drag racing, or road racing. Check out www.corner-carvers.com, or www.mnautox.com These guys are all about making their cars go as fast as possible through corners. From the factory the Mustang is not a great handling car.Originally posted by HopAlongI believe he means Drag Racing (straight line) and Auto Cross (Corners). Please correct me if im wrong.

Because the Mustang has been a symbol of American Muscle for as long as many of us have been alive. With the 86-92 style being one of the better affordable options for many of us as new drivers it was an attainable vehicle. In My opinion a mustang with flowmasters is one of the best sounding American cars around. They are relatively affordable to make very fast and look good to boot. As noted earlier, theres a vast array of manufacturers of aftermarket parts for these steed and it turns into an obsession for many of us if it werent already. Theres something about lining up against a car that was more expensive and boasts more power stock and beating him to the end of the dragstrip only to see them try to race you again because they cant believe they were beaten by a mustang. I dont favor imports at all and theres just too many kids with them now that even further the distaste towards them. Mustangs typically dont have the F-n-F crowd embedded in their ranks. Mustang drivers typically are a higher grade of motorhead.
