The Dakota has a real purpose now...

Behold, the bike I have wanted for the last 8 years.

My good friend Doug bought this bike brand new. I used to work with him; I thought it was one of the cleanest and nicest-looking motorcycles I had ever seen; plus, it smoked all the bikes I have owned except my R1. It's a 1992 FZR1000. Less than 20k miles on it; it still has the ORIGINAL back tire on it! He has kept this thing in amazing condition, as he does with everything he owns.

He found a great deal on a tool and die machine he wanted, so he sold this to me at a very reasonable price. I'm driving the Dakota to FL after Thanksgiving and staying down there a week - I'll get some quality riding time in!

Anyway, I figured I'd post the reason for buying the truck...

Plus they never wear out.

          I disagree.

Hmmm...the FZR1k in its day with a fresh clutch and an expert rider ran mid-10s at 130 or so. Now, with a weakened clutch and fatass me on it, it would be lucky to be in the mid-11s and trap 125. So, yeah, he'd still probably smoke me...

However, if we both filled up with 93 octane it might be a different story!

clutch replacing is easy. How many miles? Usually it takes a LOT of abuse to hurt a wet clutch.
              god damned tinypic.
