Nice! The yellow dragon, I would tell you to remove the restrictor plate, but it wouldn't be exactly street legal. Did you pull the trigger on those spohn solid mounts? Solid 10 lb weight reduction...

Camaro-Mustang Challenge and I take it the plate is so it is near the power of the smaller Ford engine displacement. Even out the playing field.

So you get the lower end power and choke it up top because of hp limitations in this restrictor plate? is that how they work?

Not yet. I have been focusing on getting the car back together.

They are called Nascar style door bars and the offer a crush zone for side impacts. They are considered more safe than normal door bars.

Kind of, the problem is the 200cc intake ports on the 241 heads which kills low end also. Really we are just limited to 260/310 at the wheels.

Nasa Requires a center net or a Halo Seat for Wheel to Wheel Competition. The net is $80 or the seat is $900.

Accusump line. It's my pre-oiler and will protect aginst sudden pressure drops in case the oil pick up is uncoevered in the oil pan in long corners.

Car is on the scales. Weighs 3089 with a half tank of fuel. With me in it all geared up its 3261. The class minimum weight for LS1 cars is 3250. The car will burn 49lbs of fuel in a 40 minute race. As long as I start with a full tank, it should be fine.

Watch your fuel burn........using rough math I calculate if you burn 49 lbs of fuel in a 40 minute race, that is about 6.5 mpg which is alot higher than you will get in actual race conditions. I am sure you know that and are factoring in the warmup lap and cool down lap........throw some extra ballast in there until you can predict this with more certainty.

I usually figure closer to 4 mpg under race conditions. (depends on the track. Road America is by far the worst track for milage)

                          Brian,

How much overweight do you start the race? Brady told me to expect 1 gallon for every 5 minutes based on the tracks in CA he ran and Miller. Gas is 6.2 lbs per gallon, so I came up with 49 lbs. Warm up and cool down may be another gallon, right? It will be close right now. This car runs a 46 or 48mm plate to make 260 hp with EFI. Do you think that makes much difference from your numbers with your orange car?

What distance did you use for your calculation?

When I did my quick calculations the other night, I believe I used a 40 minute race at a average speed of 80 mph. (I believe we run close to a 90 mph average at Road america, which is about as fast as it gets around here) 40 minutes at 80 mph with 4 mpg = 53 miles during a race at 4 miles a gallon times 6 lbs a gallon = about 79 lbs of weight. My number will be high, no question about it, but don't cut it that close. It isnt worth it.

I always threw 100lbs of ballast in my car so I didnt have to even worry about it. I always wanted to go on the track with a full tank of fuel so I knew how the car would handle at the start of the race. We will be a little more methodical with the new Camaro.

My point is, dont cut it too close. I have seen guys get disqualified for being too light many times. I never lost a race because I had an extra 25-50 lbs that I had to carry.

If you go to nationals, then do what ya got to do........just use the season up to that point to track fuel usage under different conditions and tracks.
